The ax is better better quality and digital though the hxi is pretty well made and is rated very high I have the hxi 850 and have had 0 issues.\ The other difference is you have to get an AXI for link support unless they recently changed that but the HXI supports link not sure if that makes a difference to you.
The new RMI series partially supports link So some of the features make up the difference
The HXi has actually been less than overwhelming in testing. It is not as good as the old HX series from 2009 it replaced. It's still a good power supply but it's not in the same class as the AX series.

Well there's this. The AX is made by Seasonic and the HXi is made by Channel Well Technology. Seasonic is the standard all others try to be. That should make your choice much easier.

If you don't fancy the Corsair Link feature, I'd go straight to AX760. Both PSUs are great, its just one has a feature that you might not be interested in. In terms of build quality and all, they are both solid PSUs.
