Hello,

I have a 3 years old HP EliteBook 8460w (three months out of warranty...). It was working fine, and suddenly bricked; it won't turn on, and won't even show that it is connected to a charger.

What I've noticed, though, is that whenever I connect it to a charger, the charger light turns off, and I need to disconnect the charger off the AC socket for a while until it starts working again. I've tried connecting the laptop to other chargers (all original HP, same model), and I have the same result (charger being turned off).

Any ideas? I hate losing this laptop, but fixing it will probably be very expensive.

Thanks.

Flip it over, remove the battery, hold down the power button for ~30 seconds, reconnect the charger, and re-insert the battery.

I've had HP's do this before (we have ~200 of the same laptop at work), and I have no idea why they do it, but that seems to revive most of them
