Hi, my disk usage in Windows 8.1 is spiking to 100% very frequently. It would freeze my PC for a few seconds, and then unfreeze and everything is normal again. The spike seems to randomly occur when I access a webpage or download something. In resource monitor, it says Google Chrome's Read B/sec is like at 100,000+ and Write B/sec is 200,000+ whenever my disk usage spikes to 100%. I've clean reinstalled Windows 8 to no avail. Windows 8.1 is installed on my 120GB Kingston HyperX Fury SSD, full system specs in my signature. Thanks in advance.

Btw, this is probably not related to my topic. but I recently tried upgrading to Windows 10 multiple times, but it failed on every attempt. When my PC is applying the upgrade, a small box pops up and all it says is "Something happened. The installation failed" or something like that. No error message whatsoever. IS THERE AN EXPLANATION TO THIS?!?!?

Hey there, InfernalSurge!

I'd recommend you to test the drive for issues using the manufacturer's diagnostic tool. Check up on the health and SMART data of the HDD and see if there's anything you should be worried about. You can also run a cleaning software that would hopefully clear the cookies from the browser.
You should also try disabling some Windows Services that could potentially be causing these freezes.

press Windows+R
Write services.msc
Disable
1-Super fetch
2-Windows Search
3-Background Intelligent Transfer Service
As for the failed upgrade for Windows 10, I'd suggest you to take a look at this thread from the MS community...

Thanks for the reply. I have disabled those three services already. Windows is installed on my SSD (120GB Kingston HyperX Fury), how do I check on its health? I'll check out the link.

Hi again, InfernalSurge!

I believe that you should be able to find some kind of a diagnostic software on the manufacturer's website. However, if you are unable to find it, here's a thread with some pretty good third-party suggestions: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1926483/ssd-diagnostic-tools.html
You can try both of them and benchmark the results.

Keep me posted what they say about the SSD's SMART data and health.
