Fixing/replacing hybrid drive on Acer laptop... to SSD?

I have an Acer M5-581T-6807 laptop which has a hybrid 20GB SSD + 500 GB regular hard drive in it. It is less than 3 years old, but it started acting erratically and it turned out there is a "bad block" on it that chkdsk can't seem to repair. I had Glary Utilities do a cleanup which seemed to help a lot with the way the computer was acting, but it says that it found 1 disk problem, then it says it repaired it, but when I run the scan again it goes through that same cycle again.

Windows 8.1 seems to have a similar problem. A scan may say that there are no errors found, but then if I reboot it will go into an error scanning mode before rebooting, then slow way down at the 29% finished mark, and then at the 30% finished mark suddenly reboot again.

But again a check with Glary will reveal an error that it says it corrects but still shows up on subsequent scans.

I tried installing Windows 10, but it ran some 18 hours straight & seemed to be updating files constantly but also showed pretty frequent "Bad block" on the hard drive events. After a day or two I tried again with the same result, though I stopped it after 15 hours.

I'm thinking I probably should replace the hybrid drive but don't really know how to do so. A friend of mine replaced a regular hard drive on his Acer, but he said it was difficult. He said that he knew nothing about SSDs or hybrid drives. Are they more difficult to do? Mine looks like it might have about 5 partitions on it. I have never set partitions either.

I would actually prefer a straight SSD drive if it wasn't too much more, event if it was a bit smaller, but a hybrid drive would be fine too if needed.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Solution
Hybird drives you see little performance. You would be better off getting a WD Black drive if you go that route. Now if you go SSD you will see a huge performance increase though.

Thanks drtweak. I'm leaning towards the SSD as I think it will probably be more durable as well. I use mine primarily as a desktop, but I wonder if moving it around occasionally might put the hard drive more at risk, especially if it's in sleep mode rather than being off.

I'm not sure how to check for a compatible drive, though, or if it would be more difficult to install & set up than a regular hard drive. I was hoping to talk my friend into putting it in for me, but it sounded like he was a little leery of the SSDs as he's never done one.

I was hoping it would be about the same as putting in an HDD, but I don't know much about them. I'm not much of a tech guy, but my friend was awhile back anyway.

ssd and hhd installs the same. use macrium reflect to clone drive over, will need a usb to sata adapter to do.

and i have a laptop. goes everywhere with me and have a sshd. no issues here on moving it around. ssd wont help much if looking to extend battery when sleeping
