Hey all, I'm trying to piece together a new rig for around £1000, but i'm unsure what to buy to complete it. Am UK based so will probably use amazon and ebuyer.
So far all I know is which CPU and GPU to go for, but am not sure which models to buy or even which companies are better to go with.
So far the setup is:

Intel Core i5 4690K - http://www.ebuyer.com/645547-intel-core-i5-4690k-3-5ghz-socket-1150-6mb-l3-cache-retail-boxed-bx80646i54690k

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI - http://www.ebuyer.com/642644-gigabyte-ga-z97x-sli-socket-1150-vga-dvi-hdmi-8-channel-audio-atx-motherboard-ga-z97x-sli

Gigabyte GTX 970 OC WINDFORCE 3X - http://www.ebuyer.com/667937-gigabyte-gtx-970-oc-windforce-3x-4gb-gddr5-dual-dvi-hdmi-3-gv-n970wf3oc-4gd

I'd like to be able to go SLI in a year or so (in case this isn't enough for the vive) hence the choice in motherboard, but even this I'm not sure if it's the best choice.
I know it's not a lot to go on, so any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

A bit more expensive than haswell refresh but more future proof

Upgraded your CPU from an i5 to an i7.
Changed your MOBO to a cheaper available one (same brand with same SLI-support feature).
Retained your GPU choice.
Added the rest of the components for a complete rig (excluding peripherals and optical drive).

Hope these suggestions would fit your requirements and help you in your decision-making! Good luck!

Still getting to grips with this website, sorry turbopiki I meant to select yours as it definitely is the best answer. Thank you so much, I hadn't considered going Skylake.
My only questions are
Is the 970 you posted going to give the same performance as the OC'd one in my OP?
And I plan on using my (admittedly shitty) tv as a monitor for the time being, but when I get a monitor what resolution would you recommend for this build?
cheers again

I second the point above. 550W is good enough for a single GTX 970. However, you mentioned that in a year or so you will SLI, this would mean buying another PSU within the same year. It's best to get a PSU fit for a GTX970-SLI in advance. And yes, you can't SLI on the ASRock H97 PRO4 (nor CrossFire).

The GPU i selected i clocked a bit lower so the gigabyte one will perfrom a bit better but not alot they are still both GTX 970, but you can OC both cards to reach even better perfromance

For resolution 1080p maybe 1080p with 144hz

i unselected the solution so now if you want can select the answer that helped you the most

Raisonjohn I've only just seen your suggestion, the help is much appreciated!
Wondering why the upgrade to I7? I was told the only real improvement wouldn't really effect gaming.
Cheers again guys

Yes, if your rig is mostly for gaming, then the i5 will suffice (few performance gained compared with i7). Upgraded it in case of your the enthusiast-type in ultimate hardcore multi-tasking/work/future-proofing/rendering (if you'll be doing that). Otherwise, choose the i5 (and save money for SLI setup).

Cheers!

Just for info, few other differences between my and raisonjohn build

CPU cooler i picked perfroms better so you will also get higher OC with it
he picked SSD with less space and a bit slower -
http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-850-Evo-250GB-vs-OCZ-Vertex-460-240GB/2977vs2043
Also not sure about NZXT 210 and its drive cage style when you will add 2nd card i am not sure how much HDD slots will be usable
Also PSU in his build is a bit lower qualtiy and non modular - http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

This is fantastic, cannot express my gratitude enough guys.
So I've priced it all up and figured I'll bite the bullet, spend a bit more and grab a monitor. So far the AOC G2460PG seems good based on your suggestion. Again I'd like to spend around this price mark if it's feasible.
https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/24%22+AOC+G-SYNC+L...

as well as upgrade the hdd to a 2TB model
https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/2TB+Seagate+Barrac...

Just wanted to run these by you guys?
Also I hadn't considered a wireless card which I'll need. Not sure which to get, my router supports 5g but I've heard that doesn't have as good a penetration when compared to 2.4. Someone even suggested using a wireless USB adaptor because I'm going to be a floor above the router.
Oh yeah if anyone has a decent cheap wireless(preferably) m&k suggestion, I'm all ears!
Again cheers everyone. Should have this badboy up and running this time next week if all goes well :D
