I would be using it for gaming. My friends tell me my processor is pretty old so I just wanted to upgrade it and thought I could do better than what I have. What would you recommend?

that's the problem, what you have there is still a great cpu for gaming, even if you invest the 200 bucks you're looking at single digits improvements.

that's because the high end space hasn't really improved that much, if you look at benchmarks for the i5 4690 and 6600 you'll see that there are no big gains in the gaming benchmarks. because the architecture behind the cpu did not improve very much, and even if it did, it did so on other areas of the cpu, not on single core performance which the games need. it's pretty much the same about since after the i5 2500k.

what you could do, is to get a nice cpu cooler and oc the cpu a bit. what's your psu model?

get another GTX 770 from ebay and SLI 2xGTX 770 ! this is the best thing to do.

used one in Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-SuperClocked-Graphics-02G-P4-2774-KR/dp/B00CZIQXBA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1441345932&sr=1-1&keywords=gtx+770

or get used one from ebay for cheap price

no, that motherboard does NOT support sli. so not really. and sli 770 needs a lot of power, what's your psu model?

(it does have 2 pci ex but second one is 4x only. NOT usable in sli.

Thats a Z77 ... never seen Z77 mobo without SLI before .. strange. ok then no SLI... I guess the best thing to do is to sell his 770 and buy a GTX 970 ...
