Hi everyone,

I just got a new cable modem from my ISP and it's a Cisco EPC3928S. I'm trying to force my laptop to connect to it using WPA2 AES security so it would connect as 801.11n and not g so I can get full internet speed on my laptop.
The settings on the modem are WPA2 AES+TKIP so that other non N devices can connect as well. So I'm connecting on my laptop to TKIP normally but when I go to the connection settings and change the security to AES it disconnects and refuses to connect to the network. The same happens if I change the modems settings to AES only.
The modem works just fine since I can connect with my phone with no issues.
I have a Windows 8.1 laptop and the network adapter is Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn

Can someone help?

This problem usually comes with Rallink and Aetheros adapters. they do not work fine with wpa2 aes security. so in such kind of situation you need to change the security to WEP. it will work on all devices.
