Hi,

I just built my rig with the following parts:

i5 6600k
msi z170a gaming m5
msi gtx 980 ti 6g
G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
WD Blue 1TB
EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750W
NZXT Kraken x61
Phanteks Enthoo Luxe

When I turn the PC on with no graphics card installed, I can go into the BIOS but when I install the GPU, the fans and LED's turn on but my keyboard, mouse, and display all remain off. Does anyone know what the problem is here?

Thanks!

The part of the card in the slot should be very tight and not move around at all. If it's not, you need to apply more pressure so it drops in.

The card itself may have a little bit of play or wiggle, so it's not unusual for the top of the card to be able to be moved around a bit, as long as the base of the card in the slot is rock-solid.

Good suggestion from sna to try another slot and see if it "feels" the same. Maybe watch a youtube video on installing a graphics card to check it looks right.

take out the card and plug it in again . if it does not work , try it in the other slot and see what happens.

also make sure that you pluged the cable into the card and not the mobo.

Two things are easy to forget...

Make sure the card is seated properly in the PCIe slot. You may have to push quite hard the first time you do this.

Are you 100% sure you've connected the PCIe power from the power supply to the graphics card? (Try different cables if you've done this and you're getting desperate).

The graphics card is in the top x16 PCIe slot?
The display cable is connected to the graphics card (not the motherboard display outputs)?

If all of the above have been tried 3 times, taken out and tried again, then you're probably looking at a faulty graphics card.

If you've got another graphics card to try temporarily try that (it'll eliminate the slot, motherboard and possibly PSU as potential problems).

Yes I'm doing both of those things correctly. I just tried installing it again and the GPU can kind of be moved up and down while installed before putting the screws in to hold it in place... I would assume that that is not supposed to happen right?

nope . try the other slot and see if it fits secure or not.
