GTX 680 or 6990? Which one should I pick provided they are both 150

BUDGET RANGE: 150 CAD

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Radeon 5770 and Corsair HX1050

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: AMD Phenom II X6 1045T, 8GB RAM DDR3-1600, MSI G70 AM3+ Motherboard

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080 or 2560x1440

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
I have about 150 to upgrade for now

It's a easy choice to pick GTX 680 that consumes much less energy and is a single GPU card. Crossfire and SLI may still have issues. You don't want to deal with the 6990 that's 4 years old and may have more aging problems due to its power consumption.
