i am using intel xeon W3550 from past 5 years but recently i am experiencing a bit drop in performance, i downloaded real temp and checked the temperatures they were idling at 75to80 c
and when at load they were over 100. i then opened the case and removed the cpu, cleaned it and applied thermal paste and put it back. now the temperatures are ideling at 70to72 and under load it is not going above 85. but i noticed one thing that my cpu clock is contant at 3200mhz. i am using the stock cooler. i am using the dx58bp motherboard from intel. 8 gb ddr3 ram.

At present the clock speed is constantly at 3.2 and the temps are at 70-80

one thing that you could do is change your power plan from windows from performance to energy saver see if that makes a difference on the temps, if it does then that means the airflow and fans aren't working properly.
