I'm building a new computer in a week or two and was wondering if I could move Windows 10 from my old PC to the new one and deleting Windows 10 on my old PC? Also how would I go about doing this?

Solution
keep in mind that if win 7 or 8 is cheaper to buy you still get another free upgrade to win 10 with that key as well.

though of course it is still tied to the new build once the upgrade is done. just an option to consider :)

good luck

if you did the free upgrade from win 7 or 8 then you can't move it. it is tied to the pc it was upgraded to and can't be moved.

not sure yet if a key you bought is movable yet or not. it was in the past but if it is also tied to hardware then this won't work either. maybe someone who has tried a bought key can offer some insight.

you can try it but i doubt it will work.

the upgrade is tied to the pc it was upgraded on and MS's servers will pick up on the major hardware difference when it tries to activate.

windows will rarely work on a new system just by swapping hard drives. there is too much mobo based stuff involved for windows to cope in such a transfer. but hey give it a shot maybe you fall into the 1 n a million category.
