Hi so I build my gaming PC about a year and a half ago now. One day I decided to buy farcry 4 once the game started downloading on steam I noticed that it sayed that it will finish in 22 hours. It was a 40gb game but cammon that is ridiculous! Anyway so I tested my down and up speed. Down speed was 4.5mbps and up ws 0.78mbps. Those speeds are very very very bad! So I asked my father what speeds we were paying for and the speeds were exactly what we were paying for. Then I did some research and found a great ISP which provides great speeds for about 30 cheaper on everything. There was one which was 20mbps down and 2mbps up for about 41. But there was a problem my mom watched alot of tv and the isp we were paying provided about 200 channels! Now my main question is can you get your internet from another ISP but keep the same telephone line with the same channels on TV? I'm only 15 so your support is very crucial to me

Technically, you can buy service a-la-carte, meaning yeah you Mom can keep her TV and phone and you buy Internet from someone else. UNLESS vendor#1 and vendor#2 are BOTH cable providers and you have only 1 physical coax cable going into your home, so you are forced to pick 1. However no problem for your Mom to keep her cable and you buy Internet from a DSL or Fiber vendor. It will likely cost more a-la-carte. Your parents may impose more house chores on you should they decide the expense is worth it!

lol I completely forgot about this forum it's been soo long. We actually ended up in upgrading our current isp's internet to a download speed of 8mbps and an upload of 2mbps. Is that good for gaming, uploading youtube videos and maybe even streaming?
