when I'm having troubles with a program, why does running as administrator sometimes help?

I have an admin account already, but sometimes a program will error out for no reason and I'll usually turn to the 'run as administrator' option, and it'll work 40% of the time, but why? I'm already an admin, surely nothing is different when I do this, right?

its just windows making sure because running as administrator allows you to make changes to the computer. even if you are admin it will still want to make sure.

long answer:

The thing is there are levels of acces in windows. For example, I'm an admin ( the only admin on my computer and my network) but sometimes I have to run certain programs as administrator to make them work. The reason is because even though you might be logged in as admin the system will still treat like a normal user, until you run an application that requires administrative privileges, since those apps can make changes and potentially messup your computer.

I wouldn't know what OSX does because I'm a windows user but yeah something like that except if you weren't logged in as admin and you tried to make a change then windows would ask you for the admin password in order to make the change. if you are already logged in as admin then its just a click for confirmation. that's just how windows is
