My Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 board died after just 2 months and it had some damage while USPS was delivering it for RMA so Gigabyte voided the warranty. I had to get a new board and I picked the Asus Z97-A/USB3.1. I installed the new board without much trouble because Windows recognized it quickly and some basic drivers were installed, but I'm not sure about what to do with the old Gigabyte drivers. I uninstalled all of the Gigabyte applications that I found, but how can I make sure that there are no remanents of the Gigabyte drivers still in the SSD that can cause troubles or unstability? Also when I placed my Asus DVD in my Blu-ray burner to install system drivers and utilities it got stucked with the list of drivers and utilities to install left blank.

I need help with both, clear the SSD of old Gigabyte drivers and make the Asus DVD work to install Asus drivers and utilities. Thanks in advance!

Uses CCleaner and run that to get rid of any remnants of the Gigabyte software. I personally would have done a clean install of the OS after installing the new MB. Look at Driver Detective software to keep all of your drivers up to date.

Whenever I try to use a new board with a Win (7?) installation already on the drive, I like to first run CCleaner after Win struggles its way to the desktop.
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard (Clean and Registry portions both)
Then I'll run Auslogics Registry Cleaner as well: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/auslogics_registry_cleaner.html

Between the two of them, most of the registry issues will be taken care of. As far as driver files themselves, if they have no reason to be loaded, they won't interfere. They will just occupy a small amount of space on the drive.

After doing the above, you should be able to use the Asus driver disk normally.
