Hi everyone!

I'm thinking of getting a new keyboard after having a membrane one for a very long time. I'm aware that the blue switches make more noise than the browns, but are generally better for gaming. I know this info about the blues and browns through multiple internet videos, but is it really that much better for gaming? I can't tell because i have never used a mechanical keyboard before.

To the point now.

I have the HD 598 by Sennheiser which is an open-ear headphone. I was wondering if the blues, or even the browns for that matter will make too much noise while i game or listen to music while typing and become an irritation after a while. So is it?

Thanks!

Whatever sources told you blues were better for gaming are wrong. The only difference between blues and browns is that blues have a click mechanism while browns are a bump. This mechanism causes more noise and requires a bit more force for the keys to register on blue switches.

Due to the higher actuation force, blues are more fatiguing and are thus worse for gaming. The sound created by blues can be annoying when playing games and should be avoided if you are talking to others, streaming, or wear headphones. Many gamers will find blues not as responsive as they need because of the extra resistance created by the click mechanism.

Blues are recommended for typing. Many people prefer the louder click during general purpose typing...

Browns are an all around switch. They do everything pretty good and are the most popular kind of switch on the market. If you are a serious gamer, red are highly praised by many who play regularly and competitively. They have the lowest actuation force and only generate noise if they are bottomed out.
