there isn't that big a difference between z170 and z170 gaming pro except small changes (a little faster speeds etc). the main difference between motherboards is as follows
h series: basic motherboard for basic work doesn't support overclocking
z series: gaming motherboards, support overclocking
x series: workstation/ professional video editing/photoshop/3dworks motherboard, support overclocking and ddr4 ram but are expensive

the best i7 skylake mobo you can get for performance would be an msi g7 z170 or evga z170 classified But those cost around $500. best for price you can get is an msi m5 or something similar. best for price and performance would be an msi z170 m7

keep in mind the performance in the m7 isn't as good as the g1 but its a great motherboard and almost as good as the g1

1: not unless it is explicitly specified. if you are unsure about what ram your motherboard supports then I can help
2: usb 3.1 is basically usb 3.0 except it supports faster transfer rates. usb type c is a new type of usb with round edges that can transfer both power,video/audio and data so essentially you could use it to charge your device and use to connect it to a monitor or as a usb. however in a desktop its not a useful feature since usb type c cant provide enough power so wall sockets will still be used in desktops, but in a laptop its a handy feature to have. image of a usb type c port

3: absolutely, a motherboard is the second most important part of your build after the cpu. the better the motherboard, the faster your computer's overall performance in processing speed, graphics, sound and everything else because the better the motherboard the faster the graphics slot and cpu socket.

That's where the difference comes in, you see the PRO-gaming motherboard from asus will support frecuencies higher then 2133Mhz but at OC, while the ROG hero will just support them without having to OC(unless you go higher then 3466Mhz)
Though ROG-features means premium price, in EU the Pro-gaming motherboard is usually priced around 170€/$ the ROG however costs 50$/€ more at 220, though to be honest your RAM is a very minor impact on your gaming experience, if you're really tight on budget it doesn't really matter.

PRO-gaming = best balance between gaming features and affordability
ROG = Highest quality and features, though not best value.

H110 B150 H170 Z170 series motherboards are Skylake
The first three series of not overclocking Z170 series motherboards specifically designed for overclocking, but it also depends on whether the CPU is overclocked design (XXXXK) ex.I7 6700K I5 6600K
If you want to overclock the motherboard and play games Z170 Gaming M7 M5 or XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM EDITION three recommended to you, of course you have a better budget better to go M9 or Godlike ...
