MBR to GPT

I got only 1 disk of 500GB in my lappy...i want to install windows 10 on it...but it is saying that i need to convert MBR disk to GPT...i deleted all my partitions and made it into one 500GB partition. ..but still if i rigjt click on the disk in disk management the "convert to GPT" option is not ebabled...i tried through cmd prompt also...got no idea what to do...current OS installed is windows 8...pls help

You should be able to install Win10 on an MBR disk, if you boot it in legacy mode.

Just delete all the partitions then create a new one while booted off the 10 disk
I think your only option is download and install a clean copy of windows 8.1 on to your disk using your key. Once you've activated then download and install the windows 10 upgrade. Below is the link for the windows 8.1 media creation tool

Just in case no one understands why I'm saying to do this i'll list the following.
1. The OP can not convert his disk from mbr to gpt as it is the boot media.
2. The OP can not boot to the windows 10 installer because he does not yet have a valid key. The OP will need to run the standing upgrade first in order to activate a new valid key with microsoft.
