Just found out my Motherboards faulty

Hi

I received and i5 4460 socket 1150 and ASRock Z97 Anniversary socket 1150 on thursday and I installed the parts and installed all motherboard drivers and Windows 7 updates.

When i plugged my Sapphire R9 270 graphics card into the motherboards PCI express slot and connected it via HDMI to my monitor and turned on the computer and watched the graphics card power up i saw that there was no display from the graphics card to the monitor as the screen just showed that it was not receiving any input from a device so i plugged the HDMI into the motherboards own HDMi which uses the I5 4460's onboard integrated graphics and still there was no display.

I decided to take the card out and then try to use the onboard graphics which when i turn on the pc finally display the bios when i pressed delete. The bios showed the PCI Express slot as its primary display adapter so when i plugged in my graphics card it should of took over from the intergrated graphics. So I did not understand why the computer was not letting my graphics card take over from the integrated graphics.

So i called a company called PC Callout Limited who kindly sent a pc mechanic called Asad to my home to look over my computer to find out why it was not recognizing my graphics card. Asad after recognizing that the monitor was not displaying video from the Sapphire R9 270 he decided to test if my older graphics card would work which is an Asus GTX 650 graphics card and still there was no display output from the graphics card to the monitor.

Asad came to the conclusion that the PCI express slot was faulty and that he recommended that i contact Scan.co.uk for a replacement motherboard and to connect ScanSure to sent a new motherboard.

I wanted to see if anyone has input on this problem am having. Also i have sent a full email to Scan including asking for a refund of the money i had to pay to PC Callouts for finding out the motherboards problem.

It may just be that the motherboard is crap. If i get a new one sent to me and it still doesn't work and i will get a refund what board should i get instead.

Regards

Wayfalll

It happens more than you reckon, I've had this numerous times, my latest build had a faulty motherboard with the PCI slots, lucky I got it fromamazon and got motherboard delivered day after. Problem solved. For the socket 1150 boards I normally recommend a msi z97 gaming 5/7 the 5 will be more for your budget. You really got a low-end cheap motherboard, don't cheap out on them ;)

Fair enough, just remember AsRock may be the cheapest but generally Asus and MSI boards contain better overclocking and a lot more features :)
Hope it all works out !

It definitely will, aslong as you didn't hide out the following problems:
- beeps produced from the motherboard
- problem with wiring

You will be surprised how often this happens to people
