Cloned Win10 from one SSD to another, new SSD won't boot

So here's the situation:

I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 with a setup of only my 512GB SSD (boot drive) and a 1TB HDD (Storage). I recently gained a new 256GB SSD which I want to make the new boot drive. I used EaseUS Todo to clone my upgraded Win10 boot drive from my 512 to my 256 SSD - the clone was successful, no errors. I boot in fine as normal on my 512 SSD, so then I attempt to boot off the newly cloned 256 SSD and I unplugged my original 512 OS SSD, but it doesn't seem to detect the OS on my SSD, so it just goes to the BIOS. After the clone was successful on my 256 SSD, I re-ordered all my SATA cables to this order: 256 - 1, 1TB HDD - 2, 512 - 3 and Disk Drive - 4. I'm running SATA controllers in AHCI mode, my boot priority is set to the new 256 SSD to boot first and I've attempted to only have my new 256 SSD connected, but nothing works. I tried re-connecting all my drives and my PC boots with fans spinning, keyboard and mouse powered however there is no input and the Boot_Device_LED turns on for a second, then nothing happens. Switching the ports for my 512 & 256 SSD works - currently 512 is in Port 1, and 256 is in Port 3.

I'm currently preparing a Win10 USB install disk to try to repair the new OS, but I can't think of any other options. I really need this PC up and running as soon as possible as I need it for school.

My System Specs are as follows:

i5-4670k
Asus Z87-A
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1,600MHz
EVGA GTX 780 Ti Classified
Kingston 512GB SSD V+100
A-Data 256GB SP900
WD Caviar Blue 1TB HDD

I USE easeUS ToDo Backup and love it - a) only clone an OS drive, and even then you have to select "sector by sector clone" at the bottom of the page where you select the target drive to clone to. If you don't, it will not copy all the boot files correctly or completely - when i forget to, and try to boot from the target SSD, i have to use the windows DVD and "repair" the OS.

I'm running windows 7 x64, so there may be other Win 10 related issues but EaseUS does support Win 10

hope that helps

since you have a WD drive in the system then you are lucky.

goto westerndigital site :

http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119

download Free Arconis and use it . it is the best cloning/image recovery/backup program available.

and you get it for free for owning WD drive .

seagate also offers it free if you have seagate drives.

try it .

and you dont need sector by sector clone. especially in different sized harddisks.

oh one more thing , you can make bootable iso from Arconis and boot from it and do all the stuff without the need to work from inside windows at all.

IF YOU'RE running a UEFI BIOS, you need to do a sector by sector clone, no matter who's software you're using

i've been using EaseUS since 2008, the free ware version, and never had an issue - a couple of years ago a bud convinced me to try acronis, and he's pretty literate in computer software - the first time i had tried to boot from the acronis clone disk, it failed and could not be repaired. On top of that, acronis is slow as cold molasses compared to EaseUS in cloning

but hey - you like it, run it

funny , Arconis never failed me ... also Arconis has auto mode for people who have no experience and it works.

and how on earth a cloned drive needs reparing if the clone fails ? you just format it and clone again. the original is intact.

if you made a mistake , it is your mistake dont blame the software. it seems you chosen the destination as source lol and cloned the opposite way . this happens some time when you are not paying attention.

you obviously have convinced yourself you know more than you do

why it does it i can't respond but a sector by sector clone is a more thorough copy

acronis didn't fail me just once - i had relied on it years ago and had the same experience

I've been using EaseUS since 2008 and have never had a cloned copy corrupt to the point of not being useable like acronis

like i said, if it works for you, please, by all means continue using it

I'd just like to add to this I've tried Acronis now several times with different settings and cannot get the new drive to boot. I'm trying to move my os drive from a Crucial 240gb ssd to a Samsung 500gb ssd. I also tried another program (which has the sector by sector clone option which I never tried). Neither worked. I'll download this now and it sounds like the problem the gentleman recommending EaseUS is describing is what I'm having too.

Hi
If you try to clone HDD from "new" generation of laptops (win 10, UEFI type of BIOS with very limited options to select source boot) in my experience only cloning software coming with EVO SSD will work. But ONLY with cloned Samsung SSD!!!
Spend hours fiddling with crucial SSD and enclosed download free OEM acronis software HD 2015. Clone OK but SSD will not boot, because Lenovo boot is impossible to be changed to accept cloned disk as primary.
Forget about acronis, etc.
May be somebody knows, how to "edit" bios coming in new Lenovo laptops, or modify ? (secure or not secure option in set up does not metter)
