Hello everyone, I'm looking to learn about overclocking, different types of cooling, undervolting, ecc... and my brother also needs a pc for school, nothing major, just word and minecraft. I already have a PSU, case and HDD lying around, but I lack the internals. I'm on a budget, about 160€, and I really can't earn any money right now. What parts should I get for this, would it be better if I wait for christmas and raise my budget by almost 150€, but I though about maybe water cooling the system (I know it's completely overkill, but it's so I know how to do it and can use the parts on my gaming pc that I plan to build next summer, after three months of work) This computer just has to be able to run the afor mentioned things ok, so not maxed out, but not everything minimum either. What should I do, and before anyone says, wait, because more money is better, please remember that this is NOT for gaming, just homework and a bit of minecraft. Thanks for the help.

A bit more info: I know I could go refurbished, but then I couldn't learn how to overclock very well

I already have an OS, don't need an optical drive or other cards, I have an SSD in another pc, but I would rather leave that where it is

Solution
Then get an Athlon X4 860K or even Athlon X4 760K or Athlon X2 370K. These overclocknwell due to lack of iGPU if you can get the GPU off a friend. As long as the card doesn't date back to AGP you are probably fine.

What you need to do is figure out what PSU you have and go from there, because it'll have been designed for a specific type of processor, and if it can handle a dual core amd processor then you may be able to get away with a processor, ram, and a water cooling system for the stated 160 euros, but that's the only way that I can think of where you're going to be able to make that budget work. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure your only option is to wait until you get the additional 150euros. I hope this helps and that you're having a good day!

I can wait until holidays for water cooling, for now I.need a station to learn the art of overclocking, so only mobo, cpu, ram and if needs be a cooler. I can't wait for water cooling, it sounds awesome, but I still have a lot of leaening to do

In that case the only practical thing I can tell you is that you are going to be purchasing an AMD cpu as they are going to be the only ones in your price range. Good luck!!!

What about mobo, I've found ram for 28 € at 1886Mhz, so that leaves me with 122€ for a processor and mobo. Could I through in a cheap as dirt graphics card from a busted pc I got from a friend? I need to check the model, but a few suggestions for overclocking motherboards for my price range would be welcome
