Intel on my motherboard?

Hello, i am wondering if the intel i7-4790k will work on the "micro atx ddr3 1600 lga 1150 motherboards b85m gaming" motherboard.

i fail to understand the logic behind a $350 CPU and a sub-$100 motherboard.

but newegg.com has a few sub-$100 if you don't mind refurbished. look for Z97 boards. the Z87 might work but you might need a BIOS update which sometimes needs an older CPU which you don't have, so... catch-22 on that one. Z97 should be good to go.

could you recomend a motherboard 100$ or less? that would fit it then?

Check the specs of whatever mobo you are looking at, GB and MSI both have 'gaming' micro ATX B85s and I'm sure there are others, might need a BIOS update to run your CPU depending on the actual mobo you are looking at as well as if new or used. Technically though yes you can run the CPU on the that mobo chipset
