So for the past few days, I noticed that my games started to crash. So I decided to check my task manager to see whats up and I notice that my ram usage is at 80% when at desktop. I decided the restart my pc and then the ram went down to a 12%. But after 5-6 hours the ram went back up to 80% idle. I checked the start ups and I only have 4 enabled which are at medium. I checked my background taskes and they were all below 50mb. I also ran a couple of virus scans and they all were clean. Any thoughts?

Exactly, the ages when RAM was unused is the past. Now windows tries to utilize as much as it can to speed up loading applications and buffer recently used files. In resource monitor it will be shown as Standby, this space can be available at any point if you suddenly run a memory-heavy applications like games. Until the point when Hardware Reserved+In Use is bellow 50% there is really nothing to worry about.
