Hello. Just an early warning: I am new to this website. So please bear with me.

Recently, I purchased an MSi X99S Krait Edition Motherboard. I decided to go with an after market cooler. I bought the Cooler Master 212 EVO.

In my installation of the heat sink, I realized that the back plate of the X99S is NOT removable. So, that means I couldn't secure the back standoff screws into their holes through the back with the provided nuts, even though you are supposed to, according to the directions. However, I am confident that I screwed the provided standoff screws in as tight as I could without breaking anything, as well as the mounting bracket screws. After this, everything seemed okay. The heat sink fit snug but not too snug against the CPU. It could twist a little, but I did some research and learned that it was normal for this to occur. However, the moment I flipped my motherboard vertically (stood it up, as I worked on the motherboard flat against a table) as it was mounted to my case, the heat sink leaned forward ever so slightly, and I could see that the piece touching the CPU broke contact on the upper half. It seemed like the thermal paste was the only thing that held it in place before that. The heat sink still touches the CPU, but while being held back away from it a bit, leaning out and downwards slightly.

I made sure that every screw was in as tight as possible, and this problem still occurred. I am getting CPU temperatures in the 60's (Celsius) and I know it's because of the lack of full contact with the heat sink.

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong or how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
