so i just want to make sure that this is compatible before i buy. i currently have a ECS P67H2-A V.1.1 LGA 1155 P67 motherboard and a core i5 2320 for the cpu but i want to upgrade to a core i7 3770k and i know the socket is the same i just want to know if it would work. i herd some cpu's need a new motherboard even if the socket is the same. any help would be good.

So the link I posted from ECS above is not reliable in it's information when it says yes? I'm not familiar with ECS as a manufacturer and would like to know if their info can be unreliable, and you have vastly more experience over the years.

I was relying on this statement.

Please refer to following steps to complete BIOS update.

※ The following instructions are all based on Sandy Bridge CPU; after finishing all the steps below then your motherboard can support both Sandy Bridge CPU and Ivy Bridge CPU.

Good to know it may nor be reliable.
