Short but significant ping spiking

So I recently noticed I'm getting short ping spikes on games such as League of legends and Killing Floor. My usual ping being around 28 it can go up to 150 for a few seconds sometimes longer and even goes up to 300 but I've really no idea why, this is the first time encountering something like this. Any ideas?

Try using a ethernet connection to test to see if keeps happening.

On wireless this is very common and is the reason you see the recommendation to never play time sensitive games on wireless. It can be caused by any number of things but generally it is neighbors using wireless and interfering.
