Is it really worth investing $1000 into a graphics cards? as technology is changing fast, newer and newer graphics cards releasing, is it a good option to buy a graphics card of $1000?
Example: A guys purchased GTX 980 for $550 when it was released and now we have better option just $650(980TI).

Anyway what are the values of these cards after 2-3 years? no one wants them then.?

Serious answers please.

In my opinion it's not worth getting the 1000+ modells like the Titan X. I rather go for the 980ti.

The decision also heavily depends on what resolution you play. If you play in 1080p you can simply pick up a 970 and be totally fine for the moment and maybe pick up another one next year even cheaper and put them into SLI.

Since i play on 1440p i go for the a bit more pricey cards, because i dont like lowering the settings. 2 years ago i bought a 780ti and last year a picked up another one for half the price and they are still going strong on 1440p. I may have spend a bit more but therefore they last you longer and are able to run higher resolutions. In total i paid around 1000€ for both and i think that i'll keep them for atleast...
you always pay a premium for the last few percents of performance. there's value choices (gtx 970 for example can play almost as well and won't lose value that badly) same for titan versus 980ti.

it's always about getting what you want to play on, if you dont mind lower details or 1080p you can get away with cheaper hardware. if you have enough money you'll get a 4k and for that you need higher end graphics.

So 1000€ for 3-4 years. If you're gaming alot it's totally worth it in my opinion.
