Well, I've looked long and hard but I can't find a damned thing that describes my problem, so here goes.
Every so often (a few times a day but usually a night, not that it should make a difference) the volume on my PC will just cut off; not mute, as the volume will be at about 20-30% but the sound from my speakers will just cease. This is fixed by raising the volume to about 80% and then the speakers will each click, and the sound will start again; very wierd, I know. Srsly, I can be half way through an episode of something and the audio will suddenly stop dead, and then continue after I raise it and lower it again.
So, the basics:
-Win 7 Ult x64
-5.1 Speaker system connected through audio jacks not USB
-No external soundcard, just using the sound system on the mobo (MSI Gaming 7)
-No secondary software that controls the sound, other than the Realtek software that comes with installing the drivers (also it's great for making sure you attach the mic/phones to the right socket)
-Set as the default comms and playback device
-Not a power issue as the PSU was replaced less than a month ago (though I can't see why that would be the cause)
-Tried removing external possible causes (wired xbox controller etc) but the problem still occurs
So, any advice, as always, is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance guys
