Phenom II x4 955 runs far too hot...

The CPU runs at around 41c degrees at idle, and up to 74c degrees when maxed out with prime 95, at stock clocks, voltages, and everything else. I'm currently using a ThermalTake aftermarket cooler.

Is there any easy way to lower temperatures on the chip?

Did you apply the thermal paste properly? Doing it wrong or having air bubbles makes it run hotter

I was able to get the temp down around 4-6 degrees by adding a case fan, a CPU cooler I took out of an old PC. At least it's a little better.

So apparently the cooler was paste free, doing this keeps it from being one degree more than the throttle point.
