Hi. I'm running an H80i with 1 stock nzxt fan and 1 corsair sp120 in push pull. I'm running it on my 4790k which is OC to 4.4GHz using the BIOS tool on my Asus Z-97K Motherboard. I seem to be getting ridiculously high temps. On Idle I am at about 50 degrees Celsius and on the "In Place Large FFT test" on Prime95, I am pinned at 100 degrees celcius. I am pretty sure it is seated correctly. Any Ideas? Thanks.

Yeah they are full of it, those temps are not okay with that cooler, even with your overclock.

If you are going to overclock you do need to learn to do it right from within the BIOS, so that you can achieve a good overclock with the lowest voltage required to keep it stable.

The h80i comes with thermal paste pre applied, but I would go ahead and re-apply thermal paste anyways. Not only does this allow you to use higher quality thermal paste, it will allow you to ensure that the water block / pump assembly is properly seated.

There is no way the h80i is seated correctly with those idle temps. Either that or you put too much or to little TIM. Do not test a Haswell cpu with prime 95 as it drives the cpu voltage up. Also check you voltage in the bios should not be on auto as it will pump way to much voltage in the cpu.. If you are oc the cpu you need to lean how in the bios and do not use any program in windows.

I'm Running a Pre-Built From Ironside Computers. I am definitely not comfortable re applying and reseating the H80i. I actually contacted them and they said that with that overclock those temps are normal?

Step one reapply the paste
Step two turn off yourotherbrosds auto over clock as it will over volt ur card to 1.3 volts or higher (i turn mine at 1.190volts at 4.4ghz)
Step 3 remove your side top and front panels see if the temps drop if it dose you case has bad air flow thats one promble i was haveing with my h440 droped 13c from removeing them and saw my air flow was bad

Ok Guys I will definitely go check the voltage and let you guys know. If it come to it I might have to grow a pair, buy some thermal paste, and reapply.

They are full of shite! There are multiple sites that have written aritacls on overclocking the devils canyon. Do not be uncomfortable to work on your pc. just troubleshoot 1 step at a time. first check your voltage using CPU-Z and tell us what the voltage is under load using Intel XTU to stress the cpu

Asus guide to overclocking very good read about your cpu & mobo-

I had high temps with my i7 4790k
I droped the temps from 69c to64c by turning off my motherbroads over clock buttoin and manuling seting it at 4.4

Theni said hm temps still dont seem right and i idle at 27c to 30c so i know the paste was good then one day after 8 months of high tempd i took off my top panel and front panel and i saw my temps drop from 64c to 49c -55c so high voltage and case air flow is why my temps were reallly high
