Performance increase by upgrading from a Samsung 840 EVO SSD to an 850 Pro?

Hi there,

I'm staring a new build and was wondering if I'd see performance increases by upgrading from my 840 EVO SSD to an 850 PRO? What are your thoughts?

i'll be surprised if you can even feel any difference. unless you bench. but for everyday use, no.

what i usually do, i look for: reliability, warranty, bang for buck, then speed. i'd get a slower cheaper ssd over a faster more expensive one. a slow ssd is still plenty fast compared to hdd's

Like Cons29 said, in daily normal usage, you won't see a difference. High speed vs slightly higher speed. Its like with car driving 200 mph vs 240 mph. Unless you measure or have absolutely special needs, there is no need.

just ge the cheaper one that has a good track record for reliability.

believe me, i still rock an old intel ssd sata2, even back in it's day it wasn't the fastest, far from it actually. but back then, intel was probably the most reliable, back then the fastest ones tend to fail a lot, good thing nowadays ssd's are more reliable.

my old intel still has my os, still boots in a few seconds (i think 13-15 sec). even if my new one shaves 5 sec from it, it won't matter much.
