sometimes when i go into a game and then tab out i lose my cursor icon but i can still click things i just have to work out where the cursor is, i also sometime have my desktop go purple and my taskbar and all my icons disappear but i can still click on them.

Update your graphics drivers, or replace your video card. Most (all?) video cards use something called a hardware mouse cursor. Windows doesn't actually draw the mouse cursor on your screen, it just tells the video card what it looks like and where it is. The video card can then bitblt the cursor into the final image at the proper location just before it's displayed. This is much faster and requires less computation than doing it in software.
It sounds like your video card is failing to do this when you alt-tab out of a game. Coupled with the graphics glitches you're seeing, that suggests you have a problem with the video card. So try updating video drivers. If you already have the latest drivers, try completely uninstalling them, rebooting, and reinstalling them. If that doesn't fix it, your video hardware may be faulty. If this only happens during/right after intensive gaming, have you tried measuring its temperature while gaming?

it just seems to have stopped now instead every now and then my desktop goes purple and my task bar disappears, then only way ive found to solve it is to auto the hide the taskbar then disable tht to bring it back then shut down applications till the background comes back and if that doesnt work i have to restart i really hope its not the graphics card as i brought it at a gaming event and the guy spelt my email wrong when i told him for the receipt so i dont have a proof of purchase accept maybe a bank transaction if i can get one.
