Why would having my xbox 360 on turn off all wifi and internet access via ethernet cable to the entire house?

I just switched over to centurylink using DSL from comcast for my internet. After switching over I was setting up my internet and got the wifi to work for all computers and cell phones but whenever I even just turn on my xbox and leave it at the home screen and btw it says it isn't connected to the internet, my internet is killed. So I know the xbox is the reason my internet get shut down but why and how do I fix it.

Derek,

Are you able to determine what IP addresses are being assigned to all of your network devices?

My sense is that you have an IP conflict or a subnet mask error. You need to look at the IP addresses being assigned - are you using any static IPs?

Do you have any scanning software (e.g. Nmap/Zenmap, Advanced IP scanner) to check your network? Get it all working sans Xbox and run a scan.

Then plug in the xbox and rerun the scan....

It would also be helpful if you provided make and model information for your modem, router, and xbox. The default settings for those devices may prove helpful.

Anyway the scans should help narrow down the problem.
