Hello --

I'm putting together my first build ever -- with A LOT of help from the folks here. So now I'd like to protect it from outages and surges that are frequent in my area. My whole-house generator kicks on in about 10 seconds, but that's not fast enough so my computer shuts down.

Here's what I will have:

PSU: Silverstone 600W 80+ Gold Modular SFX
Display: HP E241i Display

Anything else I need to consider? What specs exactly do I need to factor in when purchasing one?

- I might connect my TV to the computer, so do I need to decide on that pre-purchase of UPS unit?
- what about for External HD?
- how about other peripherals that are wired in the system, but not necessarily plugged into the unit?

Thanks for any insight!

p.s. I don't know how to link parts for the build into the forum msg...:(

Yes, you should only be getting an sfx power supply of your are getting an itx case from silverstone. The power supply may be incompatible with case.

No, the power deliver from the motherbaord of (using Integrated graphics) or graphic card (discrete graphics) will be all the power you need to display pc on TV.

- what about for External HD?
Doesn't need to plugged to power supply as USB interface will delvier the necessary power for the drive to work.

- how about other peripherals?
Same as external hdd. USB will power those devices as well.

I think I wasn't clear. I'm asking for recommendations on what kind of UPS to get, considering the PSU and monitor I will be using.
