Hey guys,
I am writing after trying various things including checking msconfig, flashing BIOS updates and trying each of my 2x8GB kits separately. Both the kits worked just fine, independently. I also tried disabling XMP and booting with stock settings. However, my PC is only showing 16GB available RAM.

Config:
Processor- I7 4770K
Motherboard- Asus Maximus VI Formula
GPU- EVGA GTX 780ti Superclocked
RAM- GSkill TridentX 32GB 1866Mhz C8 (4x8)

I know that they are two dual channel kits but I have been using them for over an year now. My system did give me some problems after upgrading to Windows 10. Recently, it stopped shutting down (Restarted automatically) which could somehow be related to this issue.

Moreover, the task manager show 2 of 4 slots used. Speccy on the other hand shows all 4 slots used.

Memory

16.0 GB DDR3

Speed: 1867 MHz
Slots used: 2 of 4
Form factor: DIMM
Hardware reserved: 45.8 MB

Available 13.3 GB
Cached 1.4 GB
Committed 2.9/18.3 GB
Paged pool 246 MB
Non-paged pool 94.8 MB
In use 2.5 GB

sounds like system is not reserving the memory.
So ... for safety remove your cpu from the socket and inspect for any bent or missing pins as the cpu has the memory controller... could cause this potentially and hope not xD
Motherboard could be faulty or north bridge drivers need to be updated ... would post links but need to go sleep. Hope it helps!

Well, just to add the BIOS detects 32GB of RAM and so does Speccy. However, the usable RAM is just 16GB. So, The last time I reinstalled the CPU was about a month ago and the RAM was just fine after that. Do you mean to say that the pins can bend on their own :3

Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit! Before upgrading I was running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit with no issues. Actually, the RAM problem started 1-2 days ago I think. Before that I only had the problem with the PC restarting instead of shutting down

Might pull the DRAM, clean the contacts, use some compressed air to clean out the slots. Any changes to hardware, have you changed the CPU cooler or has it been moved in any way - might be too tight in a corner or saide that can throw the MC (memory controller off

Hi Tradesman,
I recently had my pc turning on for a split second and then turning off issue. I did disconnect almost every part. I boiled it down to motherboard and psu but still couldn't find out the faulty component (because it just started working). Long story short, yes, I did remove it recently. I just checked the motherboard pins. They are alright. Did the thermal application again and secured the cooler optimally. The problem still persists.

I do have a LEAD: The Motherboard, maximus vi formula gets stuck on error code 69 for about 4 seconds and then on 63 for about 6-7 seconds before booting up. The problem of shutting down is still there. That is when I should down, it automatically restarts!

PLEASE HELP

What CPU cooler? The corsair AIOs with Corsair link have had problems with Win10. What happens when you only use two sticks? (a set), Win 10 has been having a number of memory related problems, it may be it and it's drivers don't like the mixed DRAM

You actually make much sense. I have Corsair H100i and I was using it without the Corsair Link software until day before yesterday I.e when the problem started.
2 sticks work just fine even on XMP (16GB). Both the kits are working fine individually.

I will try uninstalling the Corsair Link software.

Though that doesn't explain the PC restarting instead of shutting down and then pauses on error codes 69 and 63. I think they tell some different problem or no?

Q code 63 is to do with your ram.
First try clearing your cmos. Then try to boot it.
(If no work) then: boot with 1 stick of ram.
(If no help) Then: update the bios, or if you have 2 bios chips then update the second one

For code 69: It's ram compatibility if I'm correct.
I will try check if it's compatible for your board (on phone ) so a bit slow.

Clear CMOS is instruction to help 69 code.
So what I am thinking your motherboard may of always been faulty, or your ram. And now your ram Modules has a problem that's just occurred. And now it's by coincidence of switching to windows 10.

To check if it is that, if you got spare ram, check with spare ram sticks pls

I am pretty sure that the RAM is compatible with the board. Says so in the manual... I tried booting with 1 stick of RAM, 4 times (i.e. in each slots) Works fine
I have operated the system on load (using about 28GB RAM while rendering) several times when I was on Windows 8.1. They system is about 1 year old now!

I am gonna try clearing CMOS. I did try updating BIOS once, did not help...
BIOS detects and overclocks whole 32GB RAM. Speccy also detects 32GB but says 16GB usable. Task manager just says 16GB usable and 2 of 4 slots used. As can be seen in the screenshots.

Will try and reply in next 6 hours.

Have you seen any case like this before? The kits working fine for a year and suddenly decided to go crazy? I mean, isn't that weird? I doubt that they are incompatible with each other. The reason being that the serial codes are very very close to each other and were bought together in one singe order. So, different PCB or solder or batches would be unlikely.

Would also add that booting with a kit or even a single DIMM doesn't stop the motherboard from pausing at the Q codes. +It still restarts instead of shutting. That could be another problem but...

So, I tried changing DRAM voltage but it didn't help. I also tried doing one weird thing. I tried 2 DIMM's which are not in a set to just see if they are incompatible. They are working just fine. Even the other 2 odd DIMM's working fine..
It's definitely not RAM issue, I guess! Possibility of anything else? Pauses at 69 and 63.

Oh yeah, I tried different combinations. I feel it's not an incompatibility issue. Well, I did look up 69 63 in the booklet before posting. It just didn't make much sense.

One of my friends changed his psu to fix 69 63. I do think that I have a faulty psu. But could that cause the RAM to malfunction? No right?

This is very strange ... I don't know what to suggest ...
Just a recap suggestion;
You have tried the 4 rams all in different modules? I.e currently they are in 1/2/3/4
Move 2to 1 and 4 to 3 etc and try 3 ram sticks in at once?
WhAt is you current ram voltage?
BIOS is defitnky fully updated correct?

Have you contacted your manufacturer? See what they suggest?

UPDATE
So, after about 2 days, my motherboard stopped detecting the processor. I checked the CPU pins, they seemed fine. I sent my processor and PSU for RMA and got new ones. At the same time, I sent my motherboard for service and Asus serviced it (took like 20 days).

Right now, I am running the exact same rig without any problems. Probably some defective component caused it.
