The first thing to actually try would be to jump start the psu to see if it still works. Take a piece of insulated wire, strip the ends, and then pull the 24 pin plug from the motherboard. Stick one end of the wire into the only pin in the plug connected to a green wire, then run the other end to any pin connected to a black wire. If it doesn't start, it may be toast. As for a new motherboard, it may need to be replaced depending on the extent of the damage.

Power supply related possibly? Build uses a CX 430 and I wouldn't be surprised if that is the root of all evils here
Thats what I suspected, is there a way to know for sure and whats another psu that I should buy and not get screwed over?

I dont have a PSU tester on hand, once i replace me CMOS battery and get a new power supply should everything be fine or will i still need to pick up a new motherboard?
