Hello Guys....
My previous gpu Msi GTX 750ti died few days ago. Now i'm going to get the new one. My personal preference is Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 gaming 3.5gb gddr5. But i'm lil bit confused about the whole system power consumption. My current specs is,
Cpu: i3 2100 @3.10Ghz
Mobo: Intel DH61WW
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
DVD R/W: Samsung 24X DVD RW
Ram: 4+2= 6gb ddr3 @1.33Gghz
Psu : Corsair CX500
Case Cooling Fan : 5 piece Cooler Master Sickle Flow 2000rpm
So you guys can see that this specs are not that power hungry. According to eXtreme Outervision (http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator) PSU calculator the whole system requires 382 watt. Is that correct? They use reference GTX 970 In their estimate. Probably the G1 970 consumes more than that. Also the CX500 has 80% efficiency which means safe wattage consumption boundary is 400W. I guess more than 400W consumption in CX500 is not safe. So my question is,
1) Will this whole rig go beyond 400Watt with G1 970?
2) The DH61WW has one Pcie3.0x16 slot though i ask, will this support G1 970? I mean Does Intel motherboard has any issues of supporting high-end gpu's?
[ Point to be noted, I won't over clock the G1 970 untill i get a Good PSU ]
Thanks in advance :) :).
