Hi...
Previously i hav 4gb x 2 [transcend 1333mhz]

now, i bought 8gb x 2 G.skill 1600mhz [dual channel]

http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-12800cl10d-16gbxl

Now, my question is -
Do i need a fresh installation of OS to get ram's best??

MY PC CONFIG:
ASUS Z97-A mobo
I5 - 4690K at stock speed
Seagate Baracuda 1TBHDD
Windows 8.1 pro x64 OS

It has been 2 days completed using new ram with same os..
but i didn't notice any improvement with old & new RAM's as well as running at 1333mhz & 1600mhz..
So, i turned off X.M.P in bios. Is it necessary to enable it??

Higher frequency RAM can improve some games and software that can utilize more performance, but if you are looking to improve boot up speed and stuff like that then you will not notice much of a difference.

Or, if you were using most of the RAM like 7.5GB out of 8GB, that can cause the system to slow down and adding more capacity like 16GB can "speed" things up, but for most people 8GB is plenty so it doesn't sound like you had that issue.

If you were looking to improve boot up speed and overall OS response, get a SSD. In that case you will need to clone your HDD or install new OS, but I think that is the improvement you are looking for.

but i know to enable xmp to run at 1600mhz, i said dat i disabled it bcz i didn't find any differences running at 1333/1600 in performance wise or any other wise....

1. Do i need a fresh installation of OS to get ram's best??
2. Is it necessary to enable xmp even i dont want to run at 1600?? [is really 1333 & 1600 matters in daily use or games? ]

No you don't need to re-install an OS to take advantage of memory.

Just curious, why do think that it would?

You really haven't specified how you configured this new system. Did you add the 2x8GB kit to your existing 2x4GB kit?

Either way, you paid for DDR3 1600, might as well use it at the rated speed.

Memory will only increase performance if you have something that actually uses the memory. If you weren't exceeding 8GB of memory before, then adding another 8GB isn't going to make a huge difference. When you have an SSD extra memory can help act as a larger buffer between the CPU and storage.

A lot of momentum from the old days is responsible for people thinking that adding more memory equals performance. When people were going from 128MB to 256MB that was a significant jump, Going from 1GB to 2GB, or 2GB to 4GB same deal. Over the last 5 or so years though 6GB and 8GB setups are commonplace and more then enough for the average gamer or consumer.
