HI,

Some time ago I posted about my old system because I intended to sell. Today I am thinking of upgrading my PC and run it for another 2-3 years. I want to start from RAM. Currently I have following components :
P6TD deluxe
i7 920DO 1st gen
Antec 300 Case
Antec TruePower New 650W Modular PSU
Asus radeon 5770 1gb
Samsung spin point f3 500gb
Pioneer dvr-s18l
SAMSUNG SSD 830 Series 250GB
Kingston HyperX Genesis in total 12GB ( x3) 1600 MHz DDR3
Windows 7 64 bit ( original disk + box)

The reason I want to start with RAM my PC runs out of it when working on large files on Photoshop CC I constantly get yellow triangle that system law on RAM. When checking task manager I can see over 11 of RAM being used. At the same time I also run like 8-10 windows of chrome browser spotty and pretty much it. What about for 24 gb RAM and if so what configuration , make?

Thanks

Solution
You have 6 DIMM slots so you could add 3x 4G to the other three slots. 24GB is the max that motherboard supports. There aren't alot of triple channel RAM kits available any more.

You also need to be sure the version of windows you are using supports 24GB. Windows Home only supports 16GB.

kanewolf Hi,

Now I think following I have an option to upgrade to Windows 10 and buy another 3X4 same RAM to make it 24 in total OR (not sure if that would make big difference, correct me if I am wrong) buy another stick of same RAM and make it 16 GB . Extra 4 GB should make a difference and would save me some money. Should I worry about parring them up?

Thanks

Your CPU and motherboard are optimized to work with triple channel RAM. You will lose some performance by not having triple channel RAM.

If you are using Win 7 home then you might be better off with 16GB and NOT upgrading to Win 10. I have chosen to avoid the Win 10 upgrade so far.

But it's not going to run in triple channel configuration if I add 4th stick. Is it worth?! Trying to make sense of something I vaguely remember

I was also considering getting extra kit of the same 3 sticks . Make it 24 in total then all would be running in a pair trio channels.
Tradesman also have some nice suggestion

@Tradesman
1 Are you saying I should not clock speeds and timing? I live in UK :) Not sure where to look for the best deal. Why would extra same set of my existing RAM's would not work? I got 6 slot available it would be A1 B1 C1 and A2 B2 C2 pair of trio channels. Also they are not expensive. Just saying I am open to configurations and brand so the clock speed suggestions though :)
