So I recently had my EVGA 500W PSU die on me and take out my hard drive. I bought a Thermaltake TR 600W at Best Buy (it was quick and cheap), but I'm concerned about the quality of the of the TT. So first off, what made my EVGA go bad? Is it a bad PSU or maybe I overloaded it? Do I need more wattage than it had? Second question: Is the thermaltake as bad as some make it out to be? I really don't want my Mobo or CPU fried because of a cheap PSU...

My PC is
CPU: FX 6300 (Overclocked to 4.5 ghz. I would like to get more out of it in the future though)
Mobo: MSI 970 Gaming
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr R9 270 (Not overclocked... yet)
RAM: 8GB Corsair (plan to upgrade to 16GB)
2x WD Caviar Blue 1TB hard drives
1 DVD/CD
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
4 Case fans
Plus all the regular peripherals

Solution

TR600 is a mediocre psu, whilst the psu would run the build there are better alternatives.
You don't have to go for a Seasonic, if you can get the rebate the EVGA B2 750W is a good psu:

Other decent psu are XFX psu, EVGA B2 series, GS series or G2 series and Antec HCG series

You should of researched all of your parts before buying!
For the price of your parts you could left off the CPU cooler got a lower priced motherboard and moved up to a Intel i5 processor.
To answer your question all the answers are yes.
I guess you can send yours in for warranty (hope the shipping is less than a new one) then just keep swapping them out.

I researched everything except the PSU :p I'm very happy with my build, barring the recent breakdown. Thank you for your answers, I think I'll buy a better quality PSU and keep the Thermaltake around as a backup.
