Some Intel X79 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Ivy Bridge-E CPUs. what is this?

BIOS is software permanently stored in a chip on the mb that tells the mb how to run devices and to how fast a processor should run .

Updating one can be simple , or hard , depending on the mb . Sometimes you need a processor that can run in the board and sometimes you dont .

Read the boards webpage and read the support link for drivers and bios versions

The mobos were made before the release of the IB-E CPU release, most that are out for sale today should already have the newer BIOS, check the label on the box, it should tell you the BIOS version

Have you built this yet? You sir, are in the ages where Haswell wasnt released... Skip over x79 and move over to x99. You can get a 6 core for about 350$...

BUT Before x99, are you just gaming? If so, skip x79 and x99. Go z170 or z97..

Thanks for answering, yes my pc is for gaming purposes, but I decided to use 16 ram because my current pc has just 8 and crashes while I use chrome for some time, I ussually have a lot of tabs open so... but i make sure to only use the ones i have open. also i chose the x79 because my limits are 2500 dollars, but i'll try what you said

This would eat every game at 1080 or even 1440p. Hell 4k, would be well with this too. 980 Ti is very strong right now. But If you are doing just 1080 gaming, just stick with a 980.

I kind of want to have 4k gaming or 1444p, then maybe i am going to add mor gpu's (that's why the wattage)
could you give any other recomendetions so my pc runs smoothly and is good for gaming, I already have about 80 steam games, but some i can't enjoy due to my pc, I want gta 5 and the witcher in ultra by now, later in 4k. so please help me out
