I have two vg248qe 144hz monitors. I want to get a third however the MSI version of the 970 only has 1 hdmi, 1 dvi-d, 1 dvi-i , and 1 displayport. Can the dvi-i on it support 144hz or would I have to get a second graphics card to use its 144hz compatible links? Or am I screwed and would have to get a card with more 144hz compatible ports?

MSI States:

"Video Output Function

Dual-link DVI-I x 1
Dual-link DVI-D x 1
HDMI x 1
DisplayPort x 1"

DVI-I and DVI-D are almost identical when using the same linkage, only difference is one is capable of using analog and digital signals vs the only digital ability of the D variant. The analog ability is only present when a VGA-DVI adapter is used. That said DVI-I can support 144Hz, and has been done by several users here already, don't see an issue in doing it.
DVI-I (as long as it's dual link), should be able to support 1440p at 60FPS+. I' not sure, though, that that card (the 970) is capable of supporting three screens at 1440p... I would personally get a 980 ot 980 Ti if you're gaming on the three monitors.

What's your take on whether he'll be able to run three 1440p at good FPS using the GTX 970?

The monitors are only 1080p, And I realize that I probably can't run many games at 5760x1080 but I am getting the third monitor more for the productivity enhancement that comes with it. I do plan on gaming with surround on but not until I either get a better card or get another one and use SLI. Thanks for your help though everyone.
