So I just got my lenovo g50-45 yesterday and it was working fine, I could go to my bedroom and still have a good connection, and everything would work. Now that I upgraded to windows 10 then wifi range has drastically decreased. My bed room is not even that far too. I used to have a desktop there with a wifi usb adapter on it and I even went with the same laptop I'm owning to my bedroom and it worked. Now it's just not... I'm pretty sure I'm not exceeding the wifi range since I'm only like 4-5 meters away from the modem/router (don't know which is what). It's just sad, because I really enjoyed the laptop but now I completely lose connection when I reach my bedroom. I'd appreciate a lot if you could help me. And yes I have all the drivers up to date.

Solution
depends on if you upgraded from windows 7 or from window 8.x
windows 7 had power management settings for wifi set to high performance by default, windows 8 and above turn them on. There are bugs in some drivers where they go into low power but never go back to high power to the antenna. This results in very short ranges or very low connections rates. I would try and see if you can get a driver update, also the driver depends on proper BIOS functions and sometimes you might also need a BIOS update to get things to work correctly. Otherwise, if there is no BIOS update or driver update, go into windows control panel and set the wireless driver to not go into low power. (or set the system to high performance and see if you still have...

You'll never believe what was the issue. So even after updating the bios and re-installing the energy manager drivers and all after doing all sorts of researches it did nothing, I kept going NUTS. I installed a clean version of windows 7, then it didn't work, I went with windows 8.1 and cried even more. So then I was trying to install and use lenovo solution center which did absolutely nothing, then I cried some more. Then for a while I managed to make it work by leaving my bedroom door open and putting the modem closer to my room but I would still lose connection. Then I decided it was time for me to open the laptop and unplug and replug the wifi card.... And guess what I've found... the motherfucking wifi card had 1 cable disconnected out of 2. Then I just facedesked hard. Anyways, you probably don't care but I wanted to share it :)

always good to know the reason. one cable = send antenna the other a receive antenna.
