I'm upgrading my computer, and at first I decided to go with the maximus viii hero mobo. But recently i've been told the asus has stability issues, and that the gaming m7 would be a better choice, primarily when it comes to OC. The asus has more features, but the msi fits my build much better. Does anyone know if one is better than the other, or if there are better boards within the same price range? I keep getting more and more confused..

Appreciate all the help I can get, thanks! :)

My other specs are:

Intel Core i7-6700K 4,0Ghz
G.Skill Ripjaws 4 3000MHz 4x4GB
MSI GeForce GTX980 Ti

I'm facing exactly the same dilemma. I think I will be going with the Asus mobo as it's more popular and so my thinking is if any problems...

Well i also intended to buy the VII hero a month ago but ended up with MSI z97 gaming 5 and that is a motherboard that i would strongly recommend because it offers almost the same features of the vii hero but with a bit less price , but if you want at some point to run your system on a two way or more go for the asus but other than that i think the z97 is a perfict fit for the next 2 or 3 years at least

I'm facing exactly the same dilemma. I think I will be going with the Asus mobo as it's more popular and so my thinking is if any problems arise, Asus will be sure to fix them ASAP (with a bios update/recall, etc).

The MSI M7 has more hardware features, such as the steel reinforced PCIe slots, surge protection, one additional M.2 slot, Killer E2400 GEC (Ethernet port).

To be honest both are top end motherboards, I just feel like Asus has the better build quality/QA... Might be wrong though. Good luck with your purchase.
