Hello all,

I am fairly new to toms hardware. This is my first post so please forgive me if I posted something wrong.

Alright so I have a new HP 15-f100dx laptop. When I went onto crucial they showed a compatible 16GB ram kit available. I bought the ram and when I installed it. Upon rebooting I opened up BIOS that says that it has 16GB installed but when I boot into windows it says that only 6.9GB are available for use. I than proceeded to open up Specy which shows that windows sees all 16GB but only 6.9GB is usable. I than proceeded to reboot the computer but instead boot into Ubuntu which also showed that only 6.9GB was available for use.

All three of my operating systems say that they can only use 6.9GB of the 16GB installed. The operating systems that I have are: Windows 10 Home 64 bit, Ubuntu 14.04, and Kali linux (the latest one)

I have tried steps like opening up Microsoft configuration and changing the Max Memory from being enabled to being disabled. This did not change anything. Do I need to re-flash the BIOS? I am truly dumbfounded!

Any help is greatly appreciated
