People of the world.

What is your best advice for me.

I'm not very good in doing backups especially in my home. So this is the scenario:

I have 1 router and switch and 3 PC.

1 PC is personal for me and 2 are for my family members. My family members always use application's like MS WORD , Excel and School Stuff.

I've already did a back-up via External USB Hard Drive but I think it is not enough.
My connection setup for the 3 PC's are peer to peer (no domain involve, I'm just using Homegroup style sharing)

I always do something like this Folder name : 09/11/15 back up...
so what will happen if that file is now different?

Do you guys use some software that recognized a program back up date.
Example:

(Installer) Ccleaner version 1 - created in 9/10/15

Then I downloaded a Ccleaner version 2 - (which is release today) 9/11/15
can a program recognized that? The program will replace (Installer) Ccleaner version 1 because I have a new version.

Should I stick to USB back up? What if the drive will fail? What is the best strategy for home back up users. We know that some people doesn't know how to perform back up I also wanted to help them to prevent data loss and to make a disaster plan.

THANKS!

well, it depends a bit on the windows versions in use.
windows 7 still had the old backup that allowed you to do differential backups (anything that had changed since last backup)
windows 8 and 10 have the file history option which is almost same which can use either local disk, usb or networked disk to store the backups.

The idea behind backup disk is that if main drive breaks/fails, important things can be found on backup and if backup for some reason is broken, said important things are still on main disks.

Probably easiest way would be to add networed disk to the local network and use the file history to store backups of important things on it.

2 windows 7 pcs and 1 windows 8. any more solution for future implementation.?

another "simple" way would be onedrive, which means cloud storage.
tell everyone to store important things there and... it's accessible on all computers even if computers break.
Data usage would be higher of course and would require usage of microsoft account to sign in and.. yeah, not my choice really but you might be interested.
