I've been looking for ways to increase performance for CS:GO lately and haven't had any luck. I get around 90-150 FPS but usually around a constant 120. I'm targeting 150-200 fps while streaming.

So I want to upgrade my CPU since I'm pretty sure that's whats limiting my performance, CS:GO is a CPU intensive game.

I didn't know my motherboard was capable of FM2+ when I first purchased it and the Athlon 750k looked the best at the time.

I don't know much about what makes a good CPU or if possibly my cheap motherboard could be another huge performance hit. Any suggestions on what I should purchase for a decent performance increase would be appreciated.

Sorry if I typed like a retard, I feel pretty weird right now.

Specs

Motherboard: GA-F2A55M-HD2 - FM2+

CPU: Athlon x4 750k OC'd to 4ghz - FM2

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 750 Ti Windforce

Edit:

I was looking at this:

http://www.amazon.com/AMD-7800-Graphics-Socket-AD7800YBJABOX/dp/B00LM5PDBS/ref=sr_1_10?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1442006785&sr=1-10&keywords=CPU&refinements=p_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A3081486011

I have no clue what specs matter the most or anything though. Can anyone explain?

There is no worthwhile upgrade for you in the FM2 platform. The best of the best fm2/fm2+ cpu (the 860k) will ony be a marginal upgrade that is not even remotely worth the cost. The 860k is not even as good as the middle-of-the-road cpu's like the core i3 and the fx-6300.

To get a worthwhile upgrade your best route is a core i5 4460 and an inexpensive motherboard, total for the two $230-260

You are about at the top of the food chain now. The Athlon X4 860K or A10-7850K would be the only thing faster... but only by a tad. I'm not sure why you feel you need such high frame rates. Are you using a monitor with a 60 Hz refresh rate?
Anyway, your gfx card is your weak link right now. CS:GO is an (old) Source Engine game. It is not that demanding.

I'm using a old CRT monitor since I can't afford a 144hz LED. Its at 130hz right now so its pretty obvious when my fps drops below the frame rate.

I just tested in game and my GPU usage doesn't go anywhere above 25% in CS:GO ever. My CPU usage jumps to about 70% when I tab in game.

I guess I'll just have to save up for a while and try to get a better motherboard & CPU
