Random Internet disconnects

I have gone through all the basic unplugging and stuff. I bought a new router like a year ago, and I'm just starting to have problems but it is with the modem, so the router isn't the problem. And I just bought a new modem today and it is still happening.

What happens:
Randomly the internet disconnects, shows the "no internet access" icon on the computers. Whether my hard wired connection, wireless computer, or my family's phones, nobody can connect for a short period of time (1-10minutes).

I don't know what to do now and I have no idea why my internet randomly disconnects every device. I had to call my ISP (Cox) to activate the modem and they didn't mention anything about my internet connection randomly cutting out. So at the this point I'm looking for any help possible.

I will have to check as soon as the internet disconnects again. the WAN light is on the router correct?

Edit: I also switched the ethernet cable that connects the modem to the router with a new one that came with the modem just in case that cable was bad.
