Hello !

Im really new to this forum i heard from my friends that people on this forum are really nice and helpful so i will give it a shot. So basically my problem started when i got this new MSI gaming 5 z97 mother board everything else was working fine on the other motherboard. But the thing is when i join a match in league of legends, i get around stable 50-55 ping but it feels like i have 100 ping or in some cases even more. What is also really annoying is that every time i want to play music or search some stuff on google while playing league the ping jumps to 100-130 ms. I really dont know what is the problem that i am having i usually had 45 ping but now this happens and its really annoying. Any help would be appreciated. I PLAY ON EUW !

My specs

Asus gtx 970 strix 4gb
intel core i5 4690k
z97 gaming 5 msi motherboard
8 gb 1 stick ram
600 w corsair power supply

Internet

Upload speed 1 mbps
Download speed 6.80 mbps
ping 30 - this was tested on this website http://www.speedtest.net/
i use ethernet cable which is connected to my mother board to modem/route

Possibility ... over people using internet in your household.
On speedtest, it is measuring in 'bits' not 'bytes'. 8 Bytes to a bit. So you are getting 125kbps upload, and 800kbps download. Pretty slow nowadays, should handle gaming though, but you are on ADSL connection i presume and not even ADSL2? If so somone in yourhousehold is downloading, or your computer is streaming at your max download rate which is choking your connection from downloading data from EUW servesr.

So jumpy pings will be expected on a connection like yours, make sure people aren't abusing your internet and don't stream music while playing ;) as if it is high quality settings on spotify it'll choke half of your download rate.
Hope it helps !

oh and welcome !

100 ping isn't the worse, could be quite far away EUW if it is 3am now
your from one of these countries? Azerbaijan, Georgia, Mauritius, Oman, Russia, Seychelles, United Arab Emirates (UAE), ???
If so your not west europe huh :p distance will affect, I am on fibreoptic in England and to NA i get constant ping of 180+ on NA LoL
Make sure your ethernet drivers are up to date.
If your in game and not streaming music or using web and the ping is fine, then no problem. But if your in game and streaming music and using web and ping goes up ... it's the capabilities of your internet, not your PC.

slovenia is +4hours? im visiting poland right now and its more east then you and it's only +1hour
Well, my only diagnosis would be what i said is the quality of internet that's provided in your country right now. I once had to experience what you did. Just try not to do internet heavy realted tasks when playing league i guess.

its late here i must go t osleep if its still happening later ill try help again, best of luck with gaming

Like what Jakegroves said, try updating the drivers.
I can see that the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 uses Killer E2200 Game Networking.
The lates drivers can be found here.

Hopefully this helped. :)

Hello end user! If the solution to your problem has not still not been found please try the following if you are using ANY type of virus protection software. For the fix and not the story scroll down.

- I first noticed the issue when I was playing an online game, my ping started spiking and would not go back down. At first I was 100% that I was either being DDOSd or I had some how managed to get malware.

Using "ping google.com -t" I was getting 176ms-600ms returns.

*I utilize 2 different security software clients*
-Malwarebytes Premium
-AVAST Premium

After confirming that my computer was not infected by anything Malicious I continued to monitor my network activity using AVAST. I began to notice immediately that AVAST was the most active process on the network.
Using the process of elimination I was able to find out that a special security feature included with AVAST known as "Secure DNS" was causing my extremely high response times. After disabling just that one feature I have not had a problem.

*********************FIX************************

-Use the process of elimination by disabling one feature at a time to find out if any of your security software features are causing the issue.
