so i recently bought new fans for my pc replaceing the ones inside i went with the noctua brand
i installed them they work they spin but when i boot up my pc it beeps a couple times and it brings up a error message about the cpu fan i go into bios and both the cpu_fan and cpu_opt_fan run at 440+ rpm i switch em to turbo it slowly goes up to 500 rpm i turnned it on awhile go now its at 780 rpm and i know once i turn it off its gonna be at 440+ rpms again can enyone tell me why this is happening and how to fix it?

Solution
i found out that the noctua fans are causeing (cpu fan error) when i boot up the pc i removed the fan on the cpu and re installed my old one and it worked fine but when i plugged in the other fan at the back along with the cpu fan it started giveing the cpu fan error again wtf? i unplugged the noctua fan at the back and it boots up just fine without giveing me the error this is getting anoying
are you using the 'low noise' adapter that Noctua includes with the fan? That caps the maximum RPM the fan will do regardless of what you set the BIOS to do.

Have you tried plugging it into another fan connector (one of the case fan ones) to see if the RPM goes higher? Also what mother board do you have, there might be some particular quirk with the one you own?

hmm strange. The sabertooth is really good for fan control too (my last board was one) so it seems unlikely that you are misreading the settings in the BIOS. Hopefully someone who has a sabertooth will come by and you can compare settings. But when I had one it just worked, didn't have to do anything. Are any of your other fans spinning slowly too or is it just the Noctua?

Post a pic of the settings page if you can. I doubt the fan itself is a dud as Noctua QA is really good but it happens so you may just have to RMA. Sorry.
