Should I buy a R9 280x or Intel core i5 CPU?

Like the title says, I have a max budget of 500 dollars and I don't know if I should buy an I5 processor with a Z97 motherboard or buy a R9 280x by XFX. I can't buy both because I need a new power supply if I buy the graphics card and I do need a few more case fans. My current CPU is the AMD Athlon 860k overclocked to 4.4 Ghz. The games I would like to play are Battlefield 4, Black Ops 3 and maybe a few other FPS games at 1600 x 900 resolution. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

which country ? and which dollars ?

dont get lower than GTX 970 if you mean $500 USA

what is your power supply model ? and complete system specs ?

Yeah, I second that. Go with the 960 4GB EVGA I would say. Cuz I have one, and it works like charm. Any game. Since you'll be playing a lower than normal resolution, should be no issues there. Make sure you buy a Tier or 1 or 2 PSU to avoid any other factors that might slow down the system.
